NEED:
- 1 loaf French bread (or Italian bread, about 12–16 inches)
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar or Parmesan (or mix for flavor)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried basil (optional)
- Pinch of salt & pepper
DO:
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Slice the loaf in half lengthwise. Place both halves cut-side up on a baking sheet.
Spread softened butter evenly across both bread halves.
Sprinkle lightly with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
Sprinkle mozzarella evenly, then add cheddar or Parmesan over the top.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly. **12-15 minutes if prepped day ahead and stored in the fridge
For a golden top, broil on high for 1–2 minutes (watch closely).
Slice into thick strips or wedges and serve warm
